The highly anticipated movie Bruno was released on July 9, and has since taken the lead in box-office earnings over the weekend. The racy style of comedy has many people talking about the hit film. Synopsis of BrunoThe film pushes the envelope from the start, with Bruno, a gay Austrian television star, causing havoc in the fashion world. After losing his Austrian television show dedicated to fashion, Bruno becomes an outcast and is forced to seek refuge in the caring arms of Hollywood. He wants nothing more than to become world famous. Once he arrives in L.A., Bruno makes his way to a talent agent and attempts to restart his career. After a few failed attempts at screen acting, as an extra, and a celebrity magazine show that pushes Paula Abdul to flee her interview, Bruno becomes blacklisted among Hollywood A-list celebrities. Bruno’s chance at world fame is in jeopardy. Once he realizes his options are limited, Bruno takes up a cause, mimicking the stars in their aid efforts around the world. He has difficulty picking a charity or cause; most of the popular tragedies have already been taken by George Clooney, Bono, and Sting, according to Bruno. Wanting to make global news, Bruno decides to solve the problems of the middle-east and attempts to resolve the differences of the Palestinians and Israelites. It is a resounding failure. Bruno begins to question himself, his talent and his sexuality and tries to make changes in one final bid for fame. In the end he can’t be anyone but who he is. The laughs ensue from the first moment of the film till the bitter, cringing end and even though the images and jokes can be edgy, it’s impossible to look away. This movie is easily worth the price of admission. Box-office Success For Bruno“Bruno” was number one in the box-office in the first weekend after its release. It has been reported that the film “Bruno” brought in approximately $30.4 million over the weekend leading the pack ahead of Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” which took home $28.5 million and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” which dropped from first to third in weekly box-office standings. “Bruno” outperformed Cohen’s previous movie “Borat” in its first week. “Borat” brought in a reported $26.5 million in its first week on screen giving “Bruno” a $4 million dollar advantage. The Characters Of Sacha Baron CohenSacha Baron Cohen has multiple character aliases. He is best known for his television series titled the Da Ali G Show and his role as Borat, in the hit movie with the same title. The Da Ali G Show debuted in 2000 and spawned three distinct characters including Ali G, Borat and Bruno. Borat, Bruno And Now Ali G In The Movies?Cohen’s last movie was Borat which was released in November of 2006. Both Borat and Bruno movies used similar techniques to create their on-screen magic, pushing comedy to the limits. This is otherwise known as shock humour. With movies from characters Borat and Bruno now both released, rumours are swirling that Cohen will create a third film with Ali G as the lead.
