Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny: A Synopsis
Get ready for an hour and a half of hard-rocking music, surprising cameo appearances, wild special effects, ludicrous fantasy sequences, non-stop pop culture riffs, and crude sexual references in this outrageous film about the origin of the band Tenacious D. With the help of a loyal, but pathetic groupie (Jason Reed), the characters JB (Jack Black) and KG (Kyle Gass) combine forces in an attempt to become “the best rock band on earth.”
This is not your father’s musical comedy, but a young, vibrant, pulsating, blast of music videos strung together by a comedy story about two overweight stoner rock star wannabes who set out to steal a legendary guitar pick that supposedly brings great luck to its owners. The two men encounter various drugs and demons along their path to so-called greatness.

In addition to two versions of feature commentary (one with the stars, one with the director), the New Line Platinum Series DVD includes a variety of bonus features for a couple extra hours of fun.
Deleted and Extended Scenes
Introduced by director Liam Lynch, these plentiful scenes include some good additions that didn’t fit into the movie and some extraneous material that is better off resigned to being a DVD bonus feature. Particularly noteworthy: two Army/Navy Surplus Store scenes with David Koechner as a patriotic redneck.
